Simple Ways to Stay Cool This Summer on the First Coast

Simple Ways to Stay Cool This Summer on the First Coast

Eat and Drink Cool Stuff

Ice Scream: I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice cream! Visit local favorites like Five Fx, Marble SlabKilwins, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, Whit’s Frozen Custard, Cold Stone Creamery, and Bruster’s.

Yogurt: Enjoy this yummy treat at Sweet By Holly, Mochi, Sweet Frog, Yobe, and TCBY.

Smoothies: Get one of these refreshers at Planet Smoothie, Tropical Smoothie, Smoothie King, Juice Box, Juice Tap, Robeks, and Fresh Jax.  It’s also fun to make a homemade smoothie with fruit on hand.

Water: Drink lots and lots of water! Add some lemon to your water for some extra health benefits.

Popsicles: Cool down by visiting The Hyppo or make your own with THIS popsicle mold.

Fruit: Bitting into watermelon, fresh berries, oranges, and more can rejuvenate you on a hot day. Fruit kabobs are a fun snack to make. Especially, if you are heading to the beach or hosting a party.

Keep On Hand

Water Bottle: Always keep one with you. Get an infused water bottle like THIS one where you can add fruit and make yummy flavored water.

Cooling Scarf or Neck Towel: THIS scarf can cool you down anytime, any place. THIS towel is great for yoga or the gym.

Portable Fan – THIS clip fan is great if you are going to a sporting event. You also get a paper or cloth fold up fan that can easily fit in any purse.

Umbrella – Not only does it rain frequently in Florida but umbrellas are great for shielding you from the sun. It’s always a good idea to have one with you when you are out and about.

Get Wet

Car Wash: Grab a friend and have some fun washing cars. It’s a win-win. Your cars get cleaned and you both cool off.

Jump in the Pool: Visit a community pool or a friend who has a pool. There are over 30 public pools located throughout Jacksonville.

Visit the Beach: One of the best things about living in and around Jacksonville is that we close to the beach. If you decide to go check out THESE safety tips before you leave.

Water Park: Cool off at Adventure Landing’s Ship Wreck Island Water Park in Jacksonville Beach, which has 4 extreme slides. Other fun places that aren’t a far drive are Summer Waves in Jekyll Island, Bucaneer Bay in Weeki Wachee Springs, and Daytona Lagoon.

Homemade Slip N’ Slide: Find out more HERE! It’s easy and inexpensive.
