BEACON COLLEGE SUMMER FOR SUCCESS

Beacon College offers a three-week summer educational experience for students entering their senior year of high school. The program is designed to teach the participants useful learning strategies that can be used during their senior year in high school and help them overcome the fear of going to college.

WOLFSON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL’S “CHRISTMAS IN JULY” TOY AND DONATION DRIVE – 7am to 2pm

ONGOING donations accepted online. This year there are several ways to participate Play is an important part of the healing process for children in the hospital, and Wolfson Children’s Hospital is calling on the community for a sixth year to help make sure there are enough toys and activities for all patients.

 

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING IN IMAX – 1:15 pm to 10:15pm

ONGOING July 6th – July20th

Cost: $13 A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man, who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May, under the watchful eye of his new mentor.

 

SIX-WEEK VIDEO CHALLENGE – 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Attention future Spielbergs! Do you have what it takes to Build A Better World At Your Library? Join us to learn the basics of digital film production, from storyboarding to shooting to editing, as you help us produce a short video that promotes the library, literacy, & teens!

 

BUILD A BETTER BOT – 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Love robotics, or want to find out more about it? Then come take part in robot obstacle courses, races, mazes, dance moves and more! Each week, you and your robot will compete to conquer a new challenge. Who will win?

 

CODING FOR TEENS – 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Learn coding basics this summer in this class geared towards Teens ages 12 – 19. We will cover the basic principles in computer coding and introduce you to the most common coding languages. Learn about free resources you can use to begin learning to code right away.

 

NOTEWORTHY FOR TEENS – 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Are you a musician? Do you want to be, or just enjoy music? Then this is the program for you! Join Noteworthy, an electrifying and enthusiastic Jacksonville jazz band to learn more about all things jazz through this interactive musical exploration. For teens ages 12 – 18.

 

NIGHT AT THE ZOO: 80’S NIGHT – 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm

Big hair and bad fashion collide on 80s Night at the Zoo! Bread and Butter will be getting funky on the main stage while totally radical activities are taking place after dark!   See the Zoo in a whole new light during our Night at the Zoo events!

MORNING YOGA AT RAM – 9:00 am to 11:00 am

Relax and practice yoga along the St. Johns River and under the Fuller Warren Bridge at RAM’s Riverstage! Morning Yoga at Riverside Arts Market (RAM) is taught by a variety of certified teachers and is a donation-based class. All yogis attending, please bring your own mat and supplies.

 

PIONEER DAY – 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

Celebrate the resourcefulness of our ancestors by learning a new skill, competing in games and skill challenges, fishing, tours, horse and hay rides, splash zones, as well as participate in a silent auction with amazing gifts and baked goods! Tickets are $15 and include lunch from PDQ, mini-classes, and a fishing tournament with prizes.

STAND UP PADDLEBOARD YOGA AT BLACK CREEK OUTFITTERS WITH AMY – 9:30 am to 10:30 am

Take a journey into a new experience! Amy will take you through a stand up paddle board yoga flow. On the water, in nature, with yoga…SO good for the soul! The boards are up to 36″ wide, so you can stand with confidence and successfully try this workshop.

 

PROJECT POP UP – 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Rusted will be setting up tents in the back parking lot for a one day clearance of furniture, fabric, home decor, how to books/magazines, glassware and much, much more! Our vendors join together for this once a year purge of our workshops and storage units.

 

RIVERSIDE LULAPALOOZA – 11:00 am to 3:00 pm

Join us Saturday, July 15 at Friday Musicale for Riverside LuLaPalooza! We are bringing together many of your favorite local LuLaRoe retailers for a pop-up boutique like no other!

 

GAME DAY – 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm

This school aged and teen program will give them opportunity to develop teamwork skills and sportsmanship through board games and activities.

 

GO NATIVE – 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Tired of the same old art activities? Need reminding that creativity can exist outside of paper and canvas? Then join us for Go Native!, a six-part art adventure that will be sure to inspire. Explore indigenous art and culture from around the world as we create projects that fuse traditional methods with contemporary designs.

 

CREATE YOUR OWN LIGHTING EFFECTS: LED PROJECTS – 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm

Learn how to use LED RGB strip lighting to create color changing decorative elements in your home, from the kitchen to the living room, from simple back lighting to music changing multi colored elements. This class may not be suitable for individuals with photo sensitivity.

SKATEBOARD CLINIC – 9:00 am to 11:00 am

A great opportunity to introduce your new skateboarder to skateboarding. Foot placement, bailing, ollies, pushing, balance, safety and park etiquette are covered in this 2 hour clinic! $35 per student.

FAMILY BOARD GAME DAY (EVERY SUNDAY) – 12pm to 8pm

Come on over to Java Game Haus and enjoy a beverage and a sweet treat while playing board games.

CATTY SHACK RANCH WILDLIFE SANCTUARY ENRICHMENT DAY – 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Enjoy a guided tour of all the residents (Siberian tigers, lions, cougars, black leopards, a bobcat, coatimundis and foxes) at our sanctuary! Tours begin at 1:00 PM and last about 45 minutes. Tours include a viewing of all our residents, as time allows, along with facts about the animals. Enrichments begin at 2:30 PM!

A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN 25TH ANNIVERSARY – 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm

The Florida Theatre Summer Movie Classic Series is back with a lineup of films celebrating big anniversaries! Sponsored by Regions Bank. As America’s stock of athletic young men is depleted during World War II, a professional all-female baseball league springs up in the Midwest, funded by publicity-hungry candy maker Walter Harvey (Garry Marshall).
