Surviving the End of the School Year
The end is near. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The school year/ semester is winding down. Finally! Lately, I have been hearing students, teachers, and parents talk about how stressed and overwhelmed they are at the end of the school year. Many people think that this is the funnest part of the school year. Wrong! At the end a long school year there is a lot of tension putting strain on everyone’s mental and physical well being. Students, parents, and teachers, hang in there! It’s almost over and you can start your summer break.
In the meantime take these last few days to try and focus on the positive. Don’t stress. This can be an exciting time. You have accomplished a lot this year. You didn’t just finish a few major projects, but you also survived many challenges that came your way.
Powerful discussion for students, parents, and/ or teachers:
What have you accomplished this school year?
What challenges have come your way and how did you deal with them?
What challenges do you expect next year and how will you address them?
What action steps do you need to take to achieve your goals? Is there anything you can do this summer?
How will you stay motivated? What will your reward be when you accomplish your goals?
